How do I enroll in a class?

After reading the information on the home page and enrollment procedures, use our online registration to enroll in a class.

Do you supply the motorcycle?

Yes, we do provide a motorcycle for the basic motorcycle training class or the entry test on the 1DPC.

What size training motorcycles do you provide?

The training motorcycles range from 125cc to 350cc

Do I have to be a certain height?

If you have concerns about your height, you are welcome to come out to one of the classes and sit on a bike prior to registration.

What if it rains?

Bring your rain suit. We do not cancel classes for rain.

What if I don't pass?

Students who failed either the Knowledge Test or the Skill Test. Will be permitted one re-take within 60 days from the test date. If not done within 60 days you will need to pay $175.00 and start from beginning of the range (Exercise 1). If not done within the 90 days, you will need to repeat the entire course and pay full fee. Please call office to schedule an appointment at (760) 987-6652.

Students who are counseled out, self-drop and or arrive too late to participate. Can be re-enrolled for a fee of $125.00 but must be done within 90 days from class date. You will need to start from Exercise 1. If not done within 90 days, you will need to repeat the entire course and pay the full fee. Please call office to schedule an appointment at (760) 987-6652.

What if I need to reschedule my class?

Cancellations or rescheduling prior to seven days before the start of class can be done for a $25.00 fee. No cancellations or rescheduling can be accepted within the seven day period.

What do I need to bring to the classroom?

• A valid drivers license or permit and photo, Online Zoom classes require a camera.
• A pen and a highlighter
• An open mind

Can I get a copy of the student workbook before the class?

You will receive a dropbox link with your registration confirmation to download the classroom study guide.

Do you give refunds?

Only prior to seven days of the first session with a $25 cancellation fee.

Do you provide a copy of the DMV Motorcycle Handbook?

Will I need to go to the DMV after I complete the class?

Yes, MTS Inc. is and affiliate of the California Motorcycle Safety Program (CMSP). The DMV waiver (DL 389) we provide upon successful completion of the Course waives the driving portion of your DMV test only. You will need to hand carry the certificate to the DMV (DL 389). You will also be required to take the written exam at the DMV.

Is there an expiration date on the DMV certificate (DL389)?

Yes, there is a 1 year expiration date on the certificate.

Do I need to have a motorcycle license or permit to take the class?

No, but you must have a valid car license, permit, or completion certificate of driver's education or a valid Government-issued photo ID.

How do I obtain my motorcycle license or permit?

Are there insurance discounts with course graduation?

Upon successful completion of the course, we issue a completion card in addition to the DMV certificate (DL 389). Many insurance companies offer discounts with the completion of this course. Check with your insurance agent for more information.

What do I need to bring to the riding sessions?

Required protective gear for students includes:

a. Full-coverage or 3⁄4-coverage DOT-compliant helmet (full-coverage recommended)

b. Shatter-resistant eye protection

c. Sturdy over-the-ankle footwear (motorcycle-specific footwear recommended)

d. Long-sleeved shirt or jacket (motorcycle-specific jacket recommended)

e. Long non-flared durable pants (motorcycle-specific recommended) without any rips or holes.

f. Full-fingered street-motorcycle-specific or leather gloves (mechanics-style gloves, off- road gloves, etc. are NOT allowed)
